SPC Event: Negotiation Strategies for Scientists
We are excited to host the first fall STROBE special seminar led by Dr. Debra Behrens, a PhD counselor and negotiations specialist at UC Berkeley’s Career Center! She will lead a seminar discussing effective strategies for negotiating with potential employers and colleagues, highlighting details specific to science and engineering fields.
Topics include: basic elements of the negotiation process, leveraging your strengths, avoiding common pitfalls, handling multiple offers, and successfully closing the deal. While these topics are especially relevant to students and postdocs who are or will soon be applying for jobs, they also apply to everyday negotiations with colleagues, PIs, etc.
The seminar will be hosted on Monday, Sept. 10th at 3 PM PT/4PM MT from Hearst Mining Bldg. Room 290 at UC Berkeley. We hope you all will join us in discussing effective negotiation strategies!
