Research
Modern functional materials require a deep knowledge of interactions within them to understand how heterogeneity defines function. STROBE brings together academia (CU Boulder, UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC Irvine, Florida International University and Fort Lewis College), national laboratories (LBNL, ORNL, NIST) and industry to develop and advance multimodal multiscale imaging modalities and their application to material and bio-systems science. STROBE publications, knowledge transfer activities, trainee hiring and collaborations allow others to access our unique imaging methods
STROBE imaging methods are unique in their ability to capture the coupled atomic, electronic, chemical, magnetic, structural order, transport and mechanical properties from the atomic-scale to the cm-scale, and on timescales spanning from static, to kinetics (~ms) to electron transfer (~fs). STROBE has developed new table-top microscopes and is also enhancing National Imaging Facilities.
High impact STROBE advances in nanoscale imaging science.
STROBE advances in imaging science and in multiscale multimodal imaging are made available to the wider scientific community through publications.
